Installation – child’s play, do it yourself
The Tratson limescale protection device is very easy to install yourself.
On this page you will find information on installation and instructions on how to proceed.
1st order received
Thank you for choosing a limescale protection device from Tratson.
You are improving your drinking water quality and protecting the environment at the same time.
All installation materials and simple, easy-to-understand installation instructions are supplied with the ENK Quattro Power limescale protection device.
Using the installation instructions, the appliance can be installed quickly and easily by yourself within approx. 90 minutes.
If required, the limescale protection device can be installed by one of our specialist partners or by the electrician of your choice.
If the installation has to be carried out by us, we will charge a flat-rate installation fee.
Now it’s time for the installation – follow the steps below:
2. preparation
Select a location for the installation site that meets the following conditions:
The appliance must not be exposed to an ambient temperature exceeding 60°C.
Take care if the appliance is to be installed near a heater or in direct sunlight.
As the device is usually installed in a cellar, the installation location should be at least the height (110 cm from the floor) of the fuse box (due to the possibility of flooding).
Select the shortest possible connection between the device and the coils to be attached to the pipe.
The installation takes 90 – 120 minutes.
3. assembly
The housing of the limescale protection devices has been developed so that it can be easily installed on the main water pipe, suspended or upright, or on the wall using the mounting material supplied.
Illustration of the different installation variants in the following video:
The coils are created by winding the supplied cables (4x 8.5m) around the main water pipe.
The coils can (depending on the existing position of the water pipes) be wound horizontally, vertically, mixed and, depending on the available space, before and after the water meter, keeping a distance of 25 cm or more from each other.
Proceed as follows to wind the coils: Insert one end (stripped) of the coil cable into the corresponding housing connection no.1/black and guide the cable to the intended mounting point on the pipe.
Secure the cable to the pipe using one of the cable ties supplied.
Now wind the cable clockwise around the pipe in the direction of water flow until the prescribed number of 25 windings is reached.
Now secure the end of the coil with a cable tie.
Insert the second end of the cable (stripped) into the designated device connection no. 1/red.
Any excess cable can be shortened.
The other coils 2 – 4 are attached in the same way.
4. wrap the coils around the water pipe
A coil consists of 25 windings, which are wound clockwise in the direction of the water flow.
The stranded wire is fixed at the beginning and end with one of the cable ties supplied.
Winding a bobbin is very simple and takes approx. 5 minutes per bobbin.
5. commissioning
Once you have successfully installed the limescale protection device and attached the coils, check once again that all ends of the coils are connected correctly.
Now connect the supplied power supply unit to the limescale protection device and plug the mains connection into the mains socket (max. 230 VAC).
As soon as the device is supplied with mains voltage, the green operating LED next to the rotary knob lights up.
To the left of the operating LED are five additional blue power LEDs, which indicate the power level 1 – 5 used depending on the pipe material.
You can now use the rotary knob to set the power of your appliance using the following table of pipe materials.
In situations with different pipe materials, the higher of the two performance levels is to be used (e.g. iron [3] and plastic [5] = ).
Iron [3] and plastic [5] => plastic [5])
Pipe material | Power level | LED |
---|---|---|
Aluminum | minimum | 1 |
Stainless steel | 2 | |
Iron | 3 | |
Copper | 4 | |
Plastic | Maximum | 5 |
Wonderful, your home is now effectively protected from limescale deposits by the Tratson limescale protection device.
Other information
Strand must be extended
In principle, 4 strands are supplied with each product to wind the coils.
If a longer strand is required due to local conditions, this can be easily calculated using the following formula:
((Rohrdurchmesser [cm] * 3.14 * Wicklungen) + (2 * Strecke zur Wicklung [cm]) ) + 10% Reserve
Example: The tube has a diameter of 4 cm, the coil consists of 25 windings and is wound at a distance of 60 cm.
((4 [cm] * 3.14 * 25) + (2 * 60 [cm]) ) * 1.1 = 477 cm
If possible, it should be avoided to extend stranded wires.
However, if necessary, we strongly recommend using the WAGO 221-412 terminal shown below:
