One part of the thesis submitted to the EPF in Zurich was a case study on the potable water supply of a Swiss Army fortification.
The water in question was extremely dilute.

The robinets, especially the Neoperl inserts, had to be replaced every year because the calcaire and the rouille obstructed the tamis.
3 to 4 times a year, they had to be dismantled and put in the acid to remove them. Since the installation of the electromagnetic devices, the inserts in Neoperl must not be removed more than once a year and, if the calcaire is found, it can be easily removed by grating a little.
The water pipes were so badly damaged that the water drainage system was regularly blocked.
Every year, a 1 to 2 mm layer of calcium carbonate had to be removed from all the water discharge devices. Nowadays, there are no longer any materials that you can grind with your hands.

After the water had been boiled several times, the casseroles had to be toasted with a cuivre cloth and a special detergent, as a 1.5 to 2 mm thick layer of lime was formed in 2 to 3 months. After the installation of the equipment, the accumulation of water can be easily cleaned with a chiffon and water.
Chauffe-eau
The heating elements of the chauffeur water, which operates permanently, were completely calcified over a period of one year and had to be replaced every time.
The chauffeur water could only be opened at the cost of great effort and the calcaire was as hard as the pier. Since the installation of the electromagnetic appliances, the opening is easy and inside, there are materials that can be easily removed from the heating elements with a tool.
